Should I spray chemicals on my vegetables if there are pests?
Absolutely not, ever! By spraying your vegetables, you are preventing Mother Nature’s biological control methods from naturally taking place in your garden. You are also weakening the soil structure and your plants’ health, leaving it more susceptible to further infestations.
There is always an organic alternative – feel free to get in touch with one of our team about pest control for organic gardens.
How do I find out what is wrong with my garden or vegetables?
Send us a picture! If you have any questions about the health of your organic vegetable garden, contact us immediately. With just a bit of information and a few pictures we can (usually) figure out the problem and offer you an organic solution. It’s all just part of our friendly Garden Doctor Service!
Should I plant native plant varieties around my garden?
Yes! Native plant species will attract pollinators and predatory pests and help create a balanced eco system in your back yard, therefore reducing the need for harmful chemicals and sprays. Try and select varieties that are endemic to your area. We can make recommendations of Native Plant Varieties as part of our Garden Doctor Visit.
How often should I fertilise my vegetable patch?
You should be applying organic water-soluble liquid fertilisers every 2-4 weeks as well as organic matter, compost, or manure every 3-6 months.
Regular fertilising makes such a big difference to the health of the plants. They will be more pest and disease resistant, handle the heat better, and provide you with nutritionally dense, immensely abundant harvests.
What happens if I have a question after the Garden Doctor visit?
Our Garden Doctor service and all our vegetable garden installation services include a special after care service that allows you to contact us after your visit with any questions or queries you may have. So, don’t stress if you have a million questions and forget half of them on the day – you can always email us after we have left.
