Gardening With Kids
Helping Children Grow.
We firmly believe children hold the key to the future success of our plant – which is why we are passionate about teaching children to grow food and consider the planet in their actions.
Educating children about growing their own food, not only provides them with a sense of accomplishment, it builds personal development and provides them with tools they will use for life including:
Connection And Appreciation For Nature
Knowledge Of Where Their Food Comes From
Teaches Responsibility
Encourages Healthy Eating Habits
Builds Confidence And Self Esteem
Motivates Them To Get Outdoors
Workshops for kids
Our children’s workshops are designed specifically to reconnect children with food, teaching them about the seasons and how to grow their own produce – instilling an interest with nature.
Topics Include:
Seasonal Variations
Seed Sewing
Basic Planting
Gardening How To’s
Growing Food from Scraps
Aimed at children of all ages from 3 and up. All members of our team have police clearances and working with children checks.
Current Projects
Treasure Island Day Care Centre
We worked with the Treasure Island Daycare Center to create a sensory maze and vegetable gardens – contributing to outdoor fun for the little ones, as well as providing the center with fresh produce.
Guide Dogs Association of Western Australia
The children’s outdoor playground Guide Dogs WA had some extra love added to it, with our team planting some of our favourite sensory plants for the children to enjoy.
Thanks to some donations from other community businesses, we also built a beautiful vegetable garden for everyone to enjoy,
City of Wanneroo
We work very closely with the City of Wanneroo – including the Yanchep Community Center and have been lucky enough to be able to create an array of vegetable gardens for the whole community to enjoy.
A Big Thank You
Carla from Gaia’s garden came to us as our gardens were in need of some tender loving care .Carla has a beautiful way with the children and educators where she imparts her love and passion for caring for our beautiful mother nature and for instilling within that a new sense of awareness that we can grow our own nutrition and yummy food ourselves. The children and staff have had the pleasure of harvesting from our three veggie gardens giant beetroot, zucchinis, lettuce our pumpkins are growing wonderfully and will be ready for yummy pumpkin soup .This beautiful love of nature and gardens is being instilled in the hearts and minds of the children here at the service the families and staff.
Our sensory garden that smells of sweet basil, mint and curry plant to the softness of lamb’s ear to the lovely marigold colours that dance in the breeze. These beautiful spaces that Carla has helped us to plant and to nurture are a great place for magical play and exploration. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with Carla from Gaia’s gardens and we celebrate our new magical gardens. Carla is certainly the garden doctor!
